Another victory for the Square

As of yesterday, Tommy Doyle's has signed on for the project! For those of you who enjoy the occasional beverage around town, that's very good news. For those of you that already spend 2 or 3 nights a week at TD's, even better.

Your life just keeps getting better. Gotta love KlickPlanning.

The KlickPlan team's favorite new concert venue...

Well, hey there Boston. One thing you might not know about us here at KlickPlan is that all of us have a strange Chicago loyalty. Don't get me wrong, we're ALL about Boston. We're here for good for sure - but we also love that windy city on lake Michigan.

And when a Montreal Band, with ties to Northwestern University in Chicago, comes to town - well, we have to see them. So last night, the team went out and saw the Arcade Fire. Not only was the concert amazing, but we were thrilled with the Bank of America Pavilion on a warm summer day. You can't ask for a better venue. Just check out this blurry camera phone picture!

But why do you care? Because we've just doubled down on our commitment to sign up a music venue for KlickPlan. We pry won't be hitting up the BofA Pavilion, but we are officially calling out Great Scott and the Middle East.

Jump on the bandwagon boys. You're late to the game.

iPad: Coming to a Business Near You

In what is sure to become a trend in the near future, ‘Global Mundo Tapas’ in Sydney, Australia has begun presenting their customers with brand new apple iPads when entering their restaurant instead of the typical paper menu. The iPads have a menu app loaded onto them with features that a traditional menu simply couldn’t contain.

I think the fusion of new technology with typical services entrenched in tradition is great. Why does a menu have to be on paper and why does and waiter/waitress have to write down our orders and take it back to the kitchen? With wireless in a restaurant, when you decide what you want to drink or order you now have the option to touch it in to the iPad and you never have to wave over the waiter.

The functions that a restaurant could incorporate into this are also just amazing.

  • Choosing how you want your meat cooked directly on the screen
  • Choosing which sides you would like
  • Offering drink pairings with your meal
  • Each item having a picture and/or recipe included
  • A “please bring me the bill” button
  • And who could forget the Seinfeld inspired “tip calculator” that would be a must.

All in all I think this is a great idea and hope more restaurants forget about the upfront cost and jump on the bandwagon. This could really enhance the customer experience, and when your going out, that’s what it’s all about.

Kareem Reda

Yes. The title of this post is actually the name of a local Boston Area celebrity. You can see a picture of him below. Ain't he charming?

The reason that I bring up Kareem is that he is the most social person I know. And more than that, he is constantly engaging others to participate in out of the ordinary activities. I consider him the White Knight of Mini-Golf, the Dragon Slayer of Go-Karting, and the Benevolent Ruler of Picnics.

And as I think about Kareem engaging Boston to participate in said activities, I also think, how can I help? So that's what Stefan and I have spent the day doing. Kareem, I hope you're okay with us reaching out on your behalf to line up some tracks, some evening cruises, and some bowling and billiards. We're just trying to make your job a little easier.

Plus, it's a lot easier than sending an actual Birthday present.

PS - If you have some other suggestions KR, just toss them in the form at KlickPlan and we'll get on it. And I guess everyone else can comment too.

Venue Contest

Hey, I'm Stefan, they guy at the end of our video posted by Max in the previous post. I'm pretty excited to be a contributor on this blog. In the future, I'll be posting about new trends and fads that have to do with going out in Boston and across the country but today I'll start with something focused on the new website we're all so excited to be bringing to you.

Which venues would you most like to see featured on KlickPlan?

At KlickPlan, while we think we know the hottest spots to eat, drink and play in Boston, we also know that our early adopters know what venues should be featured on KlickPlan better than we ever could. Maybe it’s because some of us are stuck in the office 24/7 trying to get this site launched and others of us married our high school sweetheart, we just can’t hit the city up like we once did. Ah, the glory days. Wait I definitely veered on a tangent there, what matters is we need your opinions.
